    Methodist Episcopal Church newspaper articles at the time it was built

    In 1844, long before the settlement of Oklahoma, the question of abolition and slavery had split the Methodist Episcopal Church into the Methodist Episcopal, South and the Methodist Episcopal. Conference journals indicate pastoral assignments for both Moore congregations as early as 1890. Within a few years after the town was settled, four religious congregations emerged: Methodist Episcopal, South, (ME, South); Methodist Episcopal (ME); United Brethren; and Baptist.     Dreessen Hardware Stores

    Henry P. Dreesesen was an early settler in Moore who ran a hardware store.  The first picture shows Dreessen's first store, which appears to have taken over the original Bank of Moore building and added space onto the side, sometime after 1905 (pictures from 1905 and earlier all show it as a bank building without the addition).The second picture shows Dreessen's second store, presumably built sometime after the fire of 1910 that burned much of Moore's business district (and presumably ...
